Lairig Eilde bridge replacement project at the "Meeting of Three Waters" - looking south103 viewsThe £4M Lairig Eilde project involves replacing a crumbling 1930s reinforced concrete road bridge with a wider carriageway and taking the opportunity to incorporate laybys, a footpath and waterfall viewing platform. Main contractor is Nuttall.

Health and Safety? No chance!92 viewsThe steal beem is resting at each end. By the looks of it the Nuttall's crane couldn't lift the beam due to it's weight. So the beam needs cut in half. Upsteps a guy with a blow torch. He's sitting on one half of the beam cutting just in front of him. As the beam is under the new bridge, the digger is stopping the beam from swinging out when it's been cut right through. Safetly first though - the guy wraps his safetly harness to the crane sling. In the end I think I was spotted and the guy managed to attach the blow torch to the end of a long stick and cut the beam from a safe vantage point.
